These healthy dog treats are a great way to use up any sourdough discard and overripe bananas you may have laying around. Just mix them together with whole wheat flour, oats, and peanut butter, roll out the dough, and cut it into whatever shapes you like.
150grams(about 2) overripe bananas mashed with a fork
130grams(1/2 cup) natural peanut or almond butter
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
To a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer with paddle attachment add oats, starter, flour, mashed bananas, and nut butter. Mix until a rough dough forms.
Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out dough to a roughly 12x16 inch rectangle, add flour to surface as needed if dough is sticking. Cut out into desired shapes and transfer to lined baking sheets.
Poke each biscuit several times with a fork to prevent a pocket from forming when baked. Place in oven and bake for 25-35 minutes to desired doneness (bake for less time to get a softer biscuit or bake on the longer end if your dog prefers a crunchier biscuit). Cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your furry friend.
